Professional storyteller Sally Perkins will be telling “Stories of Our Songs: A collection of spoken stories about sources of music we all know and love.”
Dr. Perkins began telling stories “formally” in 2006 at the bedsides of children at Riley Hospital. Before long, she started performing before larger audiences at Storytelling Arts of Indiana (SAI) events, schools, churches, zoos, banquets, and more. Twice she has been commissioned by SAI and sister organizations to create historical stories and was also awarded an SAI fellowship to develop original stories. Using her skills as a professional storyteller and her 27 years of experience as a speech profession, Sally coaches business professionals seeking to improve their presentational speaking skills. Holding a Ph.D. in rhetorical studies from the University of Kansas, she spent the first 12 years of her career teaching rhetoric and public speaking full time at California State University, Sacramento, where she received numerous awards for teaching excellence. She currently teaches as an adjunct faculty member at Butler University.
